Harper Collective

As we are passionate about oceans and water, we started to study fishing nets recycling. After years of research, trial and errors we started a new development with epsotech.
The Sea Plastic that we use is a new technology and until this point it has never been used for a luxury product.

Sebastian Manes, Harper Collective

True to the credo "we care about plastics", epsotech is strongly committed to sustainability and, in particular, to the topic of the circular economy.

With Harper Collective, epsotech has found exactly the right partner to take PCR materials – in this special case the epsoOCEAN products - to the next level and establish them in the lifestyle and luxury market.

Vision - reshaping the future.

Project idea – producing sustainable suitcases hand made in the UK with recycled sea plastics made from old fishing nets and ropes from the maritime industry.

“Developing the product has taken five years. We started with 98 per cent recycled plastic but found we could not effectively mould it into an effective end-product,” says Sebastian Manes. The formula being launched contains 30 per cent Sea Plastic, 40 per cent Post-Consumer Plastic and 30 per cent virgin plastic. This material mix supports Harper Collective's promise that all materials are recyclable at the end of the luggage's lifetime”, Manes adds.

”We at epsotech are super proud to be part of this great project. Despite the fantastic end results it was also a challenging journey transforming recovered ocean plastics from the maritime industry into a stable material strong enough to be used in luggage applications. But we have taken the challenge and continuously developed the material mix and manufacturing process, so that today we can present a proven material for luggage applications”, underlines Daniel Hefele – Business Development Director epsoearth.

The Harper Collective cases are hand-stitched and riveted together, never using glue or chemicals. The interior is lined with diamond quilt recycled nylon from Barbour which makes them even more special and luxurious. They are available in 4 different sizes in black and green with more colors to come.

The order runs exclusively through the website of Harper Collective: harpercollective.co.uk
